Help Awaken the World to Oneness
Up to now, we have done very well to understand, appreciate, and live in partialness, separation, alienation, fragmentation and isolation. This is evident in the ongoing wars, violence, greed and poverty in the world. Now we find however, that there is an actual stage of development that reverses this condition, and in which we are looking at all of the separate parts of life in such a way that we actually feel ONE with “the other.” When we manage to truly stand in the shoes of “the other” our own brokenness heals. And our own wholing or healing goes along with the Wholing and Healing of the other and the entire world.
The most basic and common way to grow and develop, and to achieve Oneness, is to take the role of the other. This is the theme and the practice for Global Oneness Day 2016.
Do you long for a world that is functional and whole? Do you want to join like-minded, like-hearted people to help bring about a human civilization that is more compassionate, more sustainable, and free from poverty, oppression and war? You are not alone!
Global Oneness Day brings together dozens of passionate speakers whose commitment and insight into Oneness have inspired millions. But Global Oneness Day is about more than just listening to inspiring conversations and the sharing of ideas and insights. It’s an opportunity to join with others to contribute one’s unique perspective and gifts to the noble work of elevating, sharing, and implementing Oneness on this day and on a daily basis in life and work. Global Oneness Day offers an opportunity for thousands of us who care deeply about our world to be together in solidarity and to experience and celebrate a shared consciousness as One.
If you feel called to participate in and help Global Oneness Day grow, below we offer just a few suggestions for ways you can get involved. In any case, thank you for being here and for your interest in Global Oneness Day!
2016 Grassroots Activities Program
“Consciousness, ultimately, is the ability to take perspectives. The more perspectives you can take, the more conscious you are.” ~ Ken Wilber. Bentinho Massaro’s description of Enlightenment as “the creation of new habits,” adds a fascinating perspective to the whole question. And if we wanted to have an answer as to “how,” Neale Donald Walsch would say: “through sheer willingness.” In Humanity’s Team we encourage each person to find their own way. There are unlimited paths to a common destination.
For example, go see spiritual comedian SWAMI BEYONDANANDA’s GOING SANE TOUR 2016 and find out about his three “Just Causes.”
Global Oneness Day belongs to everyone and can be celebrated in many ways… from the most basic beingness with One-Self, a simple meeting between as few as two people, family, friends and community gatherings, to the grandest events imaginable. On this day, we see We Are All One on the billboards, buses, trains and planes… in the newspapers and on television… all over the internet. It is in the heart, mind, lips and actions of everyone. We have created just a few ideas for what you can do leading to and on Global Oneness Day: drumming circles, free hugs events, children’s fairs, food drives, donate items to homeless shelters and any other thoughtful act that may touch your heart.
In line with our theme for this year… you may create experiential group activities that involves stepping into spaces “other” than one’s own… for example the aged, people living on the street, refugee camps, the blind, people who work during the night, disadvantaged areas, etc.
Standing in the shoes of the “Other” daily exercise
This can be done anywhere, any time, but set the attention ahead of time who you will be taking the role of your spouse/partner, your child, the shop-owner, your boss, your employee, the gardener, the cashier at the store, the server in a restaurant, the taxi driver, etc.
Three times per day, practice “in the shoes of the other:
– Allow yourself to be curious – this is an exploration without being right or wrong
– Imagine that you are this person. Take on their view as fully as you can
– Look at the world. What does it look like from that person’s point of view? What does it feel like to be that person? What do you notice as this person?
– Maintain this perspective for 2 – 3 minutes each time.
Develop your own “In the Shoes of the other” Pinterest Board from Humanity’s Team and share your favorite ideas with your friends, family and community.

Support and Promote the Oneness Declaration
The most Fundamental and Universal Declaration that we can make about Life is that “We Are All One.” For this reason, the statements in the Oneness Declaration are always a mirror for reflection and inspiration and a beautiful way for us to transform human awareness and to confirm and manifest our shared consecration to create a world of peace, abundance and joy… a world that reveals our inherent connection to each other, with nature, all of Creation and the Divine. As you support and promote the Oneness Declaration now and in the future you play a vital role in getting people to acknowledge, embrace and own the Ultimate Truth about Life and in the continuing blossoming of our Oneness.
Global Oneness Day is a dream that is realized through the Oneness Declaration and therefore the Oneness Declaration is always central to Global Oneness Day. For this reason Global Oneness Day celebrations and events are complete when they are planned with the Oneness Declaration as the center piece.
Thank you for making the Oneness Declaration and Global Oneness Day your own. Thank you for inviting people to read and to promote the Oneness Declaration. Read the Declaration in several languages here.

Why Global Oneness Day?
Ever since the late 1960’s, when pioneering astronauts captured the first photographs of Earth from space, there has been a growing realization that everything and everyone on our beautiful blue planet are deeply connected. A realization that we are One.
And yet, the popular perspectives and dominant institutions in our society are still primarily based on a mentality of separation. The focus on “us” separate from “them”, or “me” separate from “other”, while appropriate in context, is the root cause of so many of the escalating challenges we now face. Thus, if we want to bring about a sustainable global society, nothing is more important than changing this outdated way of thinking.
Global Oneness Day was created to recognize and celebrate the fundamental interconnection of all people and all of life. It is an opportunity to join thousands of participants in the exploration not only of the idea of Oneness, but ways in which this thinking can and is being applied “on the ground” so that our global society and culture increasingly reflect it.
Global Oneness Day: How it began
The creation of Global Oneness day began as a simple petition drive by Humanity’s Team in 2008. Members of Humanity’s Team created a Oneness petition with the goal of obtaining 50,000 signatures that could be delivered to the United Nations (U.N.) with a request that the U.N. support the focus on awakening Oneness. By the time Humanity’s Team approached the U.N. in May 2010, over 52,000 signatures had been obtained from more than 150 countries.
When members of the Global Council for Humanity’s Team met with the U.N., the signatures, the Oneness petition and supporting material were presented. The U.N. was invited to take the Oneness petition up as a discussion. In addition, Humanity’s Team requested that the U.N. create a Global Oneness Day that could be celebrated around the world.
Ambassador Anwarul Chowdhury, who hosted the Humanity’s Team Global Council on behalf of the United Nations, graciously thanked the group for coming, and spoke about the mission, vision and purpose of the United Nations including its focus on solidarity.
He said, “until there is a sense of solidarity among the peoples of the world all of our efforts for peace and security will go nowhere.”
Ambassador Chowdhury invited Humanity’s Team to create a Global Oneness Day. He agreed that it was a very important day, and that Humanity’s Team should create that day because it would take too long for the United Nations to take up discussion and come to consensus. Chowdhury also encouraged Humanity’s Team to return to the U.N. when there were more signatures.
In July of 2010, the Humanity’s Team Global Council discussed the earlier U.N. meeting and decided to create Global Oneness Day on United Nations Day, Oct. 24. United Nations Day and Global Oneness Day share common visions for a compassionate and sustainable world and this would be acknowledged in celebrating the two days together.
The first Global Oneness Day was celebrated in 2010. A thousand people from around the world celebrated on Oct. 24 with an inspiring global phone call. Others throughout the world celebrated with community events, drum circles, service events and performances.
In the ensuing years Global Oneness Day grew in its scope and activities. In 2011, in Fort Collins, Colo, USA, there were speakers, musicians and entertainers, all centered on Oneness. There were classroom activities, outreach with the homeless, youth programs, and above all, signings of the Oneness Declaration. Global Oneness Day events also took place Canada, England, France, Portugal, Argentina, Columbia, South Africa, and many other countries.
In the year 2013, Global Oneness Day dawned in Australia, with live-streaming footage of the first country to celebrate our Oneness that day. Momentum spread all over the world as the sun rose.
In 2014, tens of thousands celebrated Global Oneness Day across our planet. Over fifty thousand registered for the Global Oneness Day Telesummit, countless Oneness walks took place and the Global Rhythm Circle events broke all previous years’ records
The impact of Global Oneness Day is immeasurable. Every movement begins by taking private conversations and making them public. Our Oneness is a timeless, ancient truth that has been marginalized over the millennia. On Global Oneness Day, Humanity’s Team invites people to take this awareness of our Oneness public for one day, to remind others of our interconnectivity and interrelatedness.
Whether it’s going into a homeless shelter or an orphanage, or whatever we’re doing in honor of this day, we encourage everyone to speak this universal truth, to share this awareness of Oneness with others. Celebrations of our Oneness are limited only by our own imagination and creativity.
This movement is far from just beginning. People around the globe are awakening to Oneness every day. Recently, during a trip to Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, Pope Francis stated:
“And the Brazilian people, particularly the humblest among you, can offer the world a valuable lesson in solidarity, a word that is too often forgotten or silenced, because it is uncomfortable. I would like to make an appeal to those in possession of greater resources, to public authorities and to all people of good will who are working for social justice: never tire of working for a more just world, marked by greater solidarity! No one can remain insensitive to the inequalities that persist in the world!
“Everybody, according to his or her particular opportunities and responsibilities, should be able to make a personal contribution to putting an end to so many social injustices. The culture of selfishness and individualism that often prevails in our society is not what builds up and leads to a more habitable world: it is the culture of solidarity that does so, seeing others not as rivals or statistics, but brothers and sisters.”
The words of Pope Francis punctuate our interrelatedness, our Oneness. They illustrate that when we awaken to Oneness and begin to see the sacredness in all of life, it is impossible to judge or marginalize people. When life is sacred, no one can be taken for granted or left behind.
Now in 2015, nearly 100,000 signatures have been collected for the Oneness Declaration. Once the 100,000 signatures benchmark is achieved, Humanity’s Team will once again approach the U.N. and seek its endorsement.
You can help to achieve this goal by celebrating Global Oneness Day in ways that feel authentic for you. Encourage others to sign the Oneness Declaration, discuss our Oneness with people in your community, at the grocery checkout, at home, in church, at school and work. Our Oneness is reality, and it’s necessary that we take this timeless truth to the light of day.
I hope you will join us on Global Oneness Day 2015. We Welcome Your Donation to Global Oneness Day
Humanity’s Team diligently works year-round to sponsor, advocate, and prepare for Global Oneness Day on October 24th annually. It is “Earth Day” for an awakening Humanity; which is undergoing a conscious evolution and shifting to a new paradigm.
The purpose of Global Oneness Day is to awaken the whole of humanity to our Oneness with the Divine, God, Source, All that Is, each other and all of life; the term you use for “God” is not what matters, He/She responds to them all. The Universal Truth of Oneness has been taught for many eons by ancient Spiritual teachings and is now being proven by Science.
Our volunteer team donates thousands of hours to help advocate and prepare for Global Oneness Day. Your contributions help us continue to sponsor this event yearly.
